Riyadh, May 14, 2024, The eighth meeting of the Saudi-Egyptian Technical Committee for Maritime Transport and Ports concluded in Alexandria, Egypt, according to a press release from the Saudi Transport General Authority.
The committee was co-led by the shipping agent in charge of the Saudi Transport General Authority Essam bin Mohammed Al-Amari, and head of the Egyptian Maritime Transport Sector Major General Reza Ahmed Ismail.
According to the release, the meeting tackled topics such as developing and implementing a mechanism for the exchange of information and data on inspection and control of passenger ships, and the integration of digital platforms for maritime tourism of the two countries.
The committee also agreed to have specialists from the two countries hold regular meetings in order to coordinate procedures between Saudi and Egyptian ports.
It emphasized the need for cooperation and coordination in regional and international forums, and discussed mutual support on issues raised at the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
