Pretoria, March 11, 2024, In a significant initiative to mark the occasion of Ramadan 1445 Hijri, the religious attaché at the Saudi embassy in South Africa launched the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' gift programs. These programs, focused on distributing dates and iftar meals, extend their reach not only to South Africa but also to other countries where the embassy is accredited.

The launch ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Chargé d'affaires Advisor Ali Najmi, Religious Attaché Eng. Mohammed Ashour, as well as several heads of Islamic associations, centers, and preachers.

Eng. Mohammed Ashour explained that these programs will encompass numerous cities and countries within the embassy's accreditation, with a dedicated allocation of 40 tons of dates. The distribution plan includes six tons for South Africa, five for Zambia, five for Mozambique, three for Mauritius, five for Zimbabwe, five for Malawi, three for Angola, three for Botswana, three for Namibia, and two for Eswatini.

Highlighting the far-reaching impact of these programs, Ashour mentioned that over 90,000 Muslims are expected to benefit from the distribution of dates and iftar meals. These efforts align with the continuous support provided by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance to Muslims globally, particularly during the blessed month of Ramadan.

Expressing their sincere gratitude, several Islamic figures in South Africa lauded the Kingdom and its wise leadership, as well as the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, for their commitment to executing such programs that serve and support Muslims worldwide. This initiative reflects the Kingdom's dedication to fostering unity and providing assistance to the global Muslim community during the sacred month of Ramadan.
