Saudi Energy Minister Affirms Commitment to Climate Goals at SGI Forum

Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman highlighted Saudi Arabia's commitment to climate action through the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI) during his speech at the third edition of the Saudi Green Initiative Forum 2023 in Dubai, coinciding with COP28 UAE. Emphasizing the expansion of efforts through the Middle East Green Initiative (MGI), he outlined steps taken, including a fourfold increase in renewable energy capacities to 2.8 gigawatts. Saudi Arabia aims to produce an additional 20 gigawatts by 2024, with plans for carbon capture and storage centers. The minister also announced a financial commitment of up to $50 billion, underlining the nation's dedication to global climate ambitions.
