RIYADH — As the countdown to the Riyadh 2023 Global Esports Games (GEG23) approaches the five-day mark, the Saudi Esports Federation (SEF) has unveiled the tournament format details for this flagship multi-title competition. Running from December 12-16 and presented by the Global Esports Federation (GEF), the event will feature over 250 elite competitors from more than 50 esports nations competing in titles such as Dota 2, eFootball™️ 2024, PUBG MOBILE, and Street Fighter 6.
Turki Al-Fawzan, CEO of the Saudi Esports Federation, expressed his excitement, stating, “The Riyadh 2023 Global Esports Games are going to be epic, and we’re sure today’s announcement will take the pre-event buzz to a whole new level."
The tournament will commence on December 12 with the Dota 2 Open, featuring eight of the world’s best countries in a single elimination format leading to the final on December 16. Street Fighter 6 will also begin on the same day with 33 countries in a round-robin shootout.
On December 13, eFootball™️ 2024 enters the arena, with 31 countries competing in a three-day tournament, culminating in a final on December 16. The Dota 2 Women tournament will also start on the same day, mirroring the format of the Dota 2 Open.
PUBG MOBILE makes its debut on December 14, concluding on December 15 with a point system format where teams strive to be the last one standing.
In addition to the tournaments, GEFcon, the exclusive thought-leadership esports event worldwide, is scheduled for December 12. This global convention will bring together leaders from esports, sports, technology, business, academia, and other sectors to shape the future of esports.
