Riyadh, April 12, 2025, The Saudi Football History Documentation Project team has informed clubs and members of the project’s General Assembly about the release of the Terminology and Definitions Document. The working team recommended the document after consulting FIFA-nominated experts, reviewing outcomes from ongoing coordination meetings with clubs, and examining international models presented during the project’s previous meeting on January 27, 2025, in Riyadh.
The document was distributed to clubs for review and feedback prior to its approval and adoption in the preparation of the project's final report.
The working team has set April 11 as the deadline for submitting comments and inquiries. Meetings will be held with clubs requesting clarification on any of the proposed terms and definitions. The finalized input will be reflected in the project report, including sections related to club competitions.
During the previous meeting, the project team announced that 96% of the documentation process had been completed, covering 123 years of Saudi football history, dating back to 1902.
Members of the General Assembly agreed to assign the working team the task of establishing unified and consistent competition standards based on four guiding principles: honoring prestigious titles while prioritizing formal competition structures; adhering to official regulations set by the relevant local authority to define standards; recognizing and promoting the historical depth of Saudi football; and considering international benchmarking models.
