New York, September 28, 2024, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee on developments in the Gaza Strip Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah chaired an emergency ministerial meeting of the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 79th United Nations General Assembly session in New York City, focused on addressing the escalation of Israeli military attacks against the State of Palestine and the Lebanese Republic.
The discussions emphasized intensifying Arab and Islamic efforts within the international community, particularly engaging with the permanent member states of the UN Security Council, to immediately halt Israeli attacks on Palestine and Lebanon, and to protect the region's security from the war's expansion, which undermines peace and security efforts regionally and globally.
The meeting also explored ways to enhance joint Arab and Islamic initiatives to ensure the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, considering the announcement of the "International Alliance to Implement the Two-State Solution" and relevant international resolutions.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister for International Multilateral Affairs and General Supervisor of the Public Diplomacy Deputyship Ambassador Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s permanent representative to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasil.
