Munich, February 18, 2024, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, actively participated in a panel discussion titled "Towards Stability and Peace in the Middle East: De-escalation Challenge" during the Munich Security Conference 2024 on Saturday.
In the course of the panel discussion, the Saudi foreign minister emphasized the critical need for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, underscoring the urgency of addressing the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region. Prince Faisal called for the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from Gaza and stressed the importance of facilitating increased access to humanitarian aid for the residents of the Strip.
Prince Faisal reiterated that the establishment of a Palestinian state is essential for achieving security and stability in the region, including Israel. He urged the international community to prioritize efforts towards this goal. The Saudi minister highlighted that discussions between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America have focused on various aspects of the Palestinian cause. He emphasized the immediate priority of addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, finding a resolution to the ongoing conflict, and ensuring the unfettered access of humanitarian aid to the affected population.
Moreover, Prince Faisal expressed concern over the provocations by Israeli occupation forces, emphasizing that such actions inflame the sentiments of Arab and Islamic nations. He pointed out the staggering human toll, with nearly 30,000 civilians and at least 17,000 children rendered orphans due to the prolonged crisis.
Highlighting the dire conditions in the Gaza Strip, including shortages in food, water, and medical supplies, Prince Faisal warned that Israeli provocations could inadvertently fuel ideologies of terrorism and extremism worldwide. His statements at the Munich Security Conference shed light on the Kingdom's commitment to addressing the humanitarian crisis and advocating for a peaceful resolution to the conflicts in the region.
