Saudi Foreign Minister, Prime Minister of Solomon Islands Sign Mutual Visa Exemption Agreement for Diplomatic, Private and Official Passports between the Two Countries


Riyadh, October 7, 2024 – In a significant diplomatic exchange aimed at fostering stronger ties between Saudi Arabia and the Solomon Islands, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, received Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele and Foreign Minister Peter Chanel Agovaka of the Solomon Islands in Riyadh today. The meeting, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, underscored the commitment of both nations to deepening their bilateral relationship and exploring new areas of cooperation.


At the outset, Prince Faisal conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the government and people of the Solomon Islands. He expressed Saudi Arabia’s hopes for continued peace, stability, and prosperity for the Pacific island nation. In return, Prime Minister Manele conveyed his own greetings and appreciation to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, wishing the Kingdom further progress and success.


The discussions during the meeting revolved around strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations. Both sides reviewed their existing relations and explored opportunities to enhance cooperation across various fields. A particular emphasis was placed on increasing joint coordination on key issues of mutual concern, reflecting a shared interest in deepening collaboration in both regional and global contexts.


One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the signing of a bilateral agreement granting mutual exemption of short-stay visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, private, and official passports. This agreement marks a milestone in easing travel between the two countries and will facilitate closer engagement at official levels, boosting diplomatic exchanges and promoting business opportunities.


The meeting was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister for Political Affairs, Ambassador Dr. Saud Al-Sati, the Saudi Ambassador to the Commonwealth of Australia, and non-resident Ambassador to the Solomon Islands, Sultan bin Khuzaim. The presence of these senior figures underscored the importance both countries place on building stronger and more fruitful diplomatic ties.
