Riyadh, Feb 7, 2024, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement in response to recent discussions between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America concerning the Arab-Israeli peace process. In light of remarks attributed to the U.S. National Security Spokesperson, the Ministry reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's unwavering stance on the Palestinian issue and emphasized the imperative for the Palestinian people to attain their rightful rights.
Saudi Arabia has consistently communicated to the U.S. administration its firm position that diplomatic relations with Israel will only materialize upon the recognition of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem designated as its capital. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia demands an immediate cessation of Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and the complete withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the area.
The Kingdom reiterated its call to the permanent members of the UN Security Council, urging those who have yet to recognize the Palestinian state, to expedite recognition based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital. This, Saudi Arabia emphasized, is crucial for the Palestinian people to achieve their legitimate rights and to realize a comprehensive and equitable peace for all involved parties.
