Riyadh, February 25, 2025 – In a momentous collaboration that highlights Saudi Arabia's deep-rooted cultural heritage, the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wrth) and the Riyadh Metro, under the auspices of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, have come together to celebrate the Kingdom’s Founding Day in a unique and vibrant way. From February 21 to 24, Riyadh Metro stations were transformed into immersive cultural hubs, offering commuters and visitors alike a captivating showcase of Saudi traditional arts.

The special celebration centered around the iconic Saudi bisht, a traditional men’s cloak that holds deep cultural significance in the Kingdom. Through a series of live demonstrations, gifts, and displays, metro passengers were introduced to the craftsmanship, history, and symbolism behind this cherished garment, which has become synonymous with Saudi identity.

In a special effort to further engage the public and create a tangible connection with Saudi traditions, over 1,000 handmade bracelets were distributed at six major Riyadh Metro stations. These bracelets, designed with intricate patterns inspired by the Al-Hasawi bisht, served as both a symbol of national pride and a memento of the celebrations. The stations involved in the distribution included the KAFD Station, National Museum Station, STC Station, Ministry of Education Station, SABIC Station, and Al Naseem Station, making this cultural experience accessible to a wide range of commuters.

Wrth, a leading institution dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Saudi traditional arts, played a central role in this initiative. The institute has long been an advocate for the Kingdom’s national identity, working tirelessly to preserve its cultural heritage while also promoting the mastery and development of traditional crafts. By supporting local artisans and nurturing talent, Wrth ensures that these timeless art forms continue to thrive both within Saudi Arabia and on the global stage.

Through this collaboration with the Riyadh Metro, Wrth has successfully created a meaningful celebration of Saudi Founding Day that goes beyond simple commemoration. By transforming everyday metro stations into living cultural exhibitions, the partnership allowed passengers to connect with the Kingdom’s rich cultural heritage in a way that was both accessible and unforgettable. This initiative underscores the Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to preserving its cultural roots while embracing innovation and progress, making it a fitting tribute to Saudi Arabia's founding and its enduring legacy.
