Al-Baha, April 19, 2024, The Saudi Heritage Commission, in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Al-Makhwah Governorate of Al-Baha Region, organized a vibrant celebration today in honor of World Heritage Day at Thee Ain Historic Village. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Al-Makhwah's Governor Ghalab bin Ghaleb Abu Khashaym.
The festivities at Thee Ain Historic Village were truly captivating, featuring mesmerizing sound and light shows projected onto the facades of 58 heritage houses within the village. Attendees were treated to a lively folk performance, a heritage council discussion, and the traditional preparation and serving of Saudi coffee, a cherished cultural symbol.
Thee Ain Historic Village holds a special place in Saudi Arabia's heritage, boasting authentic charm, a rich historical background, and stunning natural beauty that leaves a lasting impression on visitors. According to information provided on the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) website, this village traces its origins back to the end of the 10th century AH, making it over 400 years old. It is recognized as one of the Kingdom's most significant heritage villages, showcasing 58 stone-built palaces nestled atop a mountain of white marble. Additionally, the village is home to a mosque where regular and Friday prayers are conducted, adding to its cultural and historical significance.
