This dedication to alleviating human suffering, rescuing those in distress, and providing aid to the needy underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to charitable and developmental work, enhancing global societal stability for those in need.
Since the unification of the Kingdom under King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, and continuing through the reigns of his successors to the current era under Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH the Crown Prince, Saudi Arabia has been renowned for its generous contributions in humanitarian, developmental, and charitable fields. The Kingdom’s extensive aid efforts, totaling over $132 billion, have impacted 171 countries and supported 7,131 humanitarian, relief, and development projects worldwide through various forms of assistance, including donations, grants, and soft loans.
On May 13, 2015, a significant milestone was achieved with the establishment of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), as directed by King Salman. KSrelief has since become the central hub for Saudi Arabia’s external humanitarian and charitable initiatives. The center has executed 3,053 projects across 102 countries, with expenditures exceeding $7.47 billion. These projects have provided crucial support to millions of the most vulnerable individuals globally, ensuring aid is delivered impartially and effectively.
Volunteering plays a crucial role in KSrelief's operations. The center has introduced the Saudi International Volunteer Portal, which facilitates the involvement of individuals eager to contribute to humanitarian efforts abroad. Volunteers undergo comprehensive training before participating in charitable and community development activities, aligning with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goals. To date, the portal has registered over 63,000 volunteers, who have engaged in 724 distinct programs across 47 countries, benefiting more than 1.83 million people.
Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian outreach extends to its approach toward refugees. The Kingdom offers free medical treatment and education to refugees and works to integrate them into society by providing job opportunities and access to public education. This inclusive approach underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to fostering a supportive environment for displaced individuals.
In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, KSrelief has orchestrated an extensive relief operation, including an airlift with 54 flights and the establishment of a sea bridge with eight large ships carrying 6,600 tons of vital supplies such as food, shelter, and medical aid. Furthermore, KSrelief is collaborating with Jordan on an airdrop initiative to deliver high-quality food aid, aiming to alleviate the impact of the Israeli blockade on border crossings.
Additionally, KSrelief has launched the "Saudi Sama’a" Volunteer Program for Cochlear Implantation and Hearing Rehabilitation, marking the largest global charitable initiative for cochlear implantation and auditory rehabilitation. This program encompasses 24 distinct initiatives aimed at assisting 940 beneficiaries affected by earthquakes in Syria and Turkey.
Moreover, the Kingdom's commitment to humanitarian efforts is exemplified by the fully funded Saudi Conjoined Twins Program, which covers all aspects of surgeries, treatment, and rehabilitation for conjoined twins. This program has evaluated 141 cases from 26 countries across three continents and has successfully conducted 61 separation surgeries.
