Riyadh, September 14, 2024 — Abdullah Al-Shebeili, CEO of the Saudi Institute of Internal Auditors, has underscored the institute's goal to become a leading force in internal auditing both regionally and globally. This ambition aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and is bolstered by the Kingdom's influential position in various global sectors. Speaking at the conclusion of the 10th Internal Audit Conference, which took place from September 11-12, Al-Shebeili highlighted the impactful discussions and contributions made during the event. The conference, centered on the future of internal auditing, the role of technology, and the integration of artificial intelligence, as well as governance, risk management, and compliance, was a significant success.
Al-Shebeili lauded the remarkable achievements of young Saudi professionals in the field of internal auditing. He stressed the conference’s role in sparking innovation, uncovering development opportunities, and tackling professional challenges. The Saudi Institute of Internal Auditors introduced three new initiatives at the conference: "From Riyadh to the World," the "Internal Audit Award," and the "Governance, Risk, and Compliance" (GRC) program.
"From Riyadh to the World" aims to project Saudi internal auditing expertise on a global stage, sharing best practices and gaining insights from international experiences. The institute plans to tour various countries, including China, the United States, Canada, Switzerland, Russia, Australia, and Austria. The Internal Audit Award is designed to encourage professional growth and competition among internal auditors. Additionally, the GRC program, developed in collaboration with the University of Cambridge, offers both online and in-person training to help professionals incorporate governance, risk, and compliance practices into their organizations. The conference served as a key platform for exploring best practices, discussing international trends, and engaging with field experts, attracting significant interest from professionals, officials, and media globally.
