Saudi-Jordanian maritime committee concludes session, reaffirms commitment to industry cooperation

Jeddah, February 20, 2024, The fourth session of the Saudi-Jordanian Technical Committee for Maritime and Ports Transport concluded in Jeddah with a reaffirmation of its commitment to strengthening cooperation in the maritime transport industry. The committee aims to develop and enhance ship and yacht traffic between the ports of Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

Chaired by Eng. Essam bin Mohammed Al-Amari, the deputy of the Transport General Authority Maritime on the Saudi side, and Engineer Omar Mustafa Al-Dabbas, the director general of the Maritime Authority on the Jordanian side, the committee focused on coordinating joint exercises in search and rescue, combating marine pollution, and streamlining transit procedures for yachts and cruise ships between the two countries.

One of the key objectives of the meeting was to enhance coordination between the maritime authorities of Saudi Arabia and Jordan in areas such as maritime training, education, and certification of seafarers. The committee is dedicated to developing the maritime transport sector between the two countries and exploring avenues for sustainable collaboration to further strengthen this vital industry.
