The Saudi Media Forum has signed a cooperation agreement with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) to enhance media training and education, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030 and global sustainable development goals.

Riyadh, November 26, 2024 – In a significant step towards fostering sustainable development and empowering individuals and media organizations, the Saudi Media Forum has entered into a landmark cooperation agreement with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). This collaboration marks a crucial alignment with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the global movement towards achieving sustainable development goals. The partnership is designed to bolster efforts in media development, training, and education, enhancing Saudi Arabia’s media landscape while empowering both local and international participants.

The primary objective of this agreement is to establish a long-term impact through the creation of innovative training programs that merge academic knowledge with practical, real-world applications. These initiatives will target a wide spectrum of media professionals, journalists, and organizations, with a focus on enhancing their skills, deepening their understanding of media literacy, and promoting innovation in media practices. The program will provide both theoretical and hands-on training, boosting awareness in public and private sectors alike, and reinforcing the professional competencies needed to meet the evolving challenges of the media industry.

Furthermore, the collaboration aims to support media organizations by aligning their goals with the broader agenda of sustainable development, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning, remote education, and access to cutting-edge educational resources. Through this strategic partnership, UNITAR’s expertise in refining media skills and promoting global knowledge sharing will be harnessed to address both present-day requirements and future media challenges.

Chairman of the Saudi Media Forum, Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Harthy, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, calling it the first of several strategic initiatives aimed at advancing the Kingdom’s media sector. He emphasized the critical importance of staying ahead of the curve in a rapidly evolving global landscape, particularly for a nation such as Saudi Arabia, which is undergoing significant transformation. Al-Harthy noted that UNITAR, as one of the world’s leading institutes specializing in media training, will play an instrumental role in helping to build the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the complexities of modern media.

This agreement represents a major milestone in the Saudi Media Forum's broader strategy to elevate Saudi Arabia’s media standing on the global stage. By fostering international and local partnerships, the Forum aims to provide media professionals with the latest tools, techniques, and resources necessary to produce world-class media content. Through this initiative, the Forum remains committed to supporting media professionals and organizations in their pursuit of excellence, with the ultimate goal of ensuring the continued development of a vibrant and globally competitive media industry in Saudi Arabia.

In conclusion, this partnership with UNITAR marks a major leap forward in the Saudi Media Forum’s mission to advance the Kingdom’s media capabilities, support sustainable development, and contribute to the global media landscape, ultimately shaping the future of Saudi media for years to come.
