New York, September 18, 2023, The Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, co-chaired a ministerial meeting on the margins of the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to discuss attempts to revive the peace process in the Middle East. Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry, and European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell co-chaired the meeting. Nearly 70 countries and international organizations were represented at the summit, and around 50 speakers represented a wide range of countries.
Mechanisms for coordinating collaborative efforts to improve the Middle East peace process were the main topic of discussion.
To revive the Arab Peace Process, participants considered forming political, economic, and humanitarian task groups to investigate concrete measures and incentives.
