Riyadh, January 11, 2023, Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, the Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Cabinet Member, highlighted the Kingdom's proactive stance in formulating global standards rather than merely adhering to them. Speaking at the third annual International Mining Conference in Riyadh during a panel session titled "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Minerals: Development Incentives – Multi-Dimensional Approach," Al-Jubeir emphasized Saudi Arabia's ambitious goals as the world's largest oil producer.
During the conference, Al-Jubeir outlined the Kingdom's commitment to addressing climate change through various environmental initiatives. He pointed to significant projects such as "The Line," green and blue hydrogen, clean energy, and wind energy, all of which showcase Saudi Arabia's dedication to sustainable development and innovation.
Participating in global initiatives related to oceans, plastic reduction, and afforestation, Saudi Arabia aims to achieve economic diversification and contribute to the global effort to combat climate change. Al-Jubeir stressed the Kingdom's historical role in mediating conflicts, citing its proposal of the Arab Peace Initiative and ongoing efforts to foster regional and international security and stability.
The minister highlighted the importance of fair mechanisms in utilizing natural resources and minerals to facilitate economic integration rather than exploitation. Al-Jubeir pointed to the Saudi Arabian Mining Company—Ma'aden—as a key player in global mining activities, fostering cooperation with countries possessing mines to benefit all parties involved.
In addressing climate challenges, Al-Jubeir underscored the need for science-based solutions and advocated for the redesign of smart cities through initiatives like afforestation, carbon sequestration, electric cars, solar energy, and hydrogen energy.
Saudi Arabia's commitment to global development was further emphasized by Al-Jubeir, who noted the Kingdom's substantial economic programs, support for less developed countries, and efforts in various sectors such as health, infrastructure, and education. Al-Jubeir highlighted these endeavors as part of Saudi Arabia's responsibility to build bridges and foster communication with nations around the world.
