Saudi Minister of Education Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan participated in the 2024 Global Education Innovation Summit in Seoul, joining over 200 global education leaders to discuss the impact of AI on education.
During the session, titled “Classroom Revolution with AI,” Al-Benyan and other panelists explored AI’s role in bridging educational gaps and enhancing personalized learning, while emphasizing the evolving roles of teachers, students, and technology.
Al-Benyan highlighted Saudi Arabia’s leadership in digital transformation under Vision 2030, noting the Kingdom’s top rankings in AI strategy and community awareness, and its commitment to using technology to advance education and global partnerships.
Seoul, August 29, 2024 – Saudi Minister of Education Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan took part in the 2024 Global Education Innovation Summit (GEIS) held in Seoul, South Korea. This prestigious summit brought together over 200 global leaders in education, including ministers, government officials, education experts, and representatives from international organizations, all gathered to discuss the future of education and technology.
During a prominent ministerial session titled “Classroom Revolution with AI: Public Education Systems for Inclusive and Equitable Quality Learning for All,” Al-Benyan joined a distinguished panel that included Professor Lee Ju-Ho, Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister of South Korea; Sayasat Nurbek, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Science and Higher Education; and Stephen Morgan, the UK’s Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Early Education. The session focused on the transformative role of artificial intelligence in education, exploring how AI can bridge gaps and enhance learning outcomes across diverse educational contexts.
The discussion emphasized the evolving roles of various stakeholders—teachers, students, parents, policymakers, and technology companies—in integrating AI into educational systems. The panel delved into the latest innovations in AI-driven personalized learning, highlighting how these advancements can tailor educational experiences to individual needs, thereby improving effectiveness and inclusivity.
Minister Al-Benyan showcased Saudi Arabia’s commitment to digital transformation as a core component of Saudi Vision 2030. He noted that the Kingdom's leadership in digital strategy is reflected in its top ranking in government strategy according to the Tortoise Global AI Index and its second-place ranking in community awareness of AI based on Stanford University's 2023 AI Index. Al-Benyan reiterated that Saudi Vision 2030 is designed to position Saudi Arabia as a global leader in the digital economy, with a strong focus on integrating education and AI to benefit future generations.
Furthermore, Al-Benyan highlighted Saudi Arabia’s proactive approach in enhancing education through international partnerships and agreements with leading countries in education and AI. He stressed the importance of harnessing technology thoughtfully and effectively to serve humanity, underscoring the Kingdom's dedication to advancing education and technology on a global scale.
