Riyadh, February 27, 2024, The Ministry of Energy announced the successful launch and completion of clean diesel and gasoline (Euro 5) in the Kingdom's markets, replacing the previous fuels. These new fuels, designed for all modes of transportation, are part of the Kingdom's commitment to providing highly efficient, low-emission fuel in alignment with environmental sustainability goals and the objectives of Vision 2030.
The introduction of these products is a significant step in the Kingdom's efforts to reduce emissions and work towards achieving a "net zero" status by 2060. This commitment is demonstrated through the implementation of the Circular Carbon Economy (CCE) approach. By adopting cleaner fuels, the Kingdom is contributing to global efforts to mitigate environmental impact and reinforcing its position as a reliable global energy supplier.
The Ministry emphasized that the launch of clean diesel and gasoline is in line with the 'Saudi Green Initiative' and the 'Saudi Energy Efficiency Program.' These initiatives have established the Saudi 'CAFE' standard, focusing on improving vehicles' fuel economy and encouraging the integration of the latest energy-efficient technologies by automotive manufacturers for vehicles imported into the Kingdom. This forward-looking approach not only addresses environmental concerns but also promotes the use of advanced technologies to enhance energy efficiency in the transportation sector, aligning with the Kingdom's commitment to sustainable development.
