Riyadh, March 3, 2024, The National Center for the Development of the Non-Profit Sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has unveiled the latest advancements in the expansion of the non-profit sector as of February 2024. Notably, the sector has witnessed a surge with the registration of 56 private associations, 8 private institutions, and 21 family funds across various priority development domains and multiple regions throughout the Kingdom. Consequently, the total count of registered non-profit entities in the Kingdom now stands at 4,656. Moreover, the number of volunteers has surpassed 113,000 in diverse fields, collectively contributing over 4 million volunteer hours and availing 43,000 volunteer opportunities.
The center underscored the ongoing proliferation of the non-profit sector, evidenced by the escalating figures of both non-profit entities and volunteers, alongside the upsurge in the number of technical supervisory units within governmental bodies. This trajectory of growth underscores the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders within the non-profit sector framework, further accentuating the advancements observed in the governance of non-profit entities, which attained heightened levels of governance in 2023. Such achievements underscore the sector's steadfast commitment to fulfilling its designated developmental roles.
In line with its supervisory and regulatory mandate, the center has taken decisive actions against several non-profit entities and individuals since the inception of 2024. These measures include issuing 11 warnings to civil associations, dismissing the board of directors of a civil association in two instances, reforming the interim board of directors in two cases, dissolving two civil associations, initiating their liquidation process, and referring four civil associations to the Public Prosecution.
Emphasizing the imperative of compliance with rules, regulations, guidelines, and procedures governing the non-profit sector, the center urges all non-profit entities to engage through customer care channels, including the unified call center 19918, its website ncnp.gov.sa, and its social media platforms. Such integration is deemed essential to fostering the development of the non-profit sector and amplifying its social and economic impact to attain overarching national objectives.
With its core mission centered on organizing and invigorating the role of non-profit sector entities, expanding their presence in developmental domains, and facilitating seamless government assistance in licensing services, financial and administrative oversight, as well as enhancing coordination and support, the National Center for the Development of the Non-Profit Sector continues to spearhead efforts toward fostering a thriving non-profit landscape in the Kingdom.
