The Saudi Noor Volunteer Program, conducted by KSRelief from November 1 to December 31, 2024, successfully treated eye diseases and blindness in Yemen's Aden Governorate, with over 1,400 surgeries and treatments performed.

Aden, January 7, 2024 – The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) has successfully concluded the Saudi Noor Volunteer Program, a comprehensive initiative aimed at combating blindness and treating diseases that cause visual impairment in Yemen’s Aden Governorate. The program, which ran from November 1 to December 31, 2024, was a significant part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing humanitarian efforts to address healthcare challenges in Yemen, particularly in the field of ophthalmology.

Throughout the duration of the program, KSRelief’s volunteer medical team, composed of highly skilled surgeons and specialists, conducted a wide range of eye surgeries and medical treatments. The medical team successfully performed 500 minor surgeries to treat various eye conditions, 400 retinal injections, and 200 retinal surgeries to address vision-threatening disorders. In addition, 120 glaucoma surgeries, 120 strabismus (eye misalignment) surgeries, 100 orbital surgeries, and 67 laser surgeries were carried out. Each procedure was completed successfully, contributing to the restoration or preservation of sight for many individuals, particularly those from low-income communities who would otherwise lack access to such specialized care.

The Saudi Noor Volunteer Program is a critical component of KSRelief’s broader volunteer medical initiatives, which are designed to alleviate the suffering of patients in Yemen and other conflict-affected regions worldwide. The program not only provided essential eye care but also helped raise awareness about the importance of early detection and treatment of eye diseases, particularly in impoverished communities where healthcare resources are often scarce.

This program reflects Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to improving the health and well-being of vulnerable populations around the world. Through KSRelief, the Kingdom continues to offer medical expertise and humanitarian assistance to individuals in dire need, emphasizing the importance of volunteerism and international cooperation in addressing global health challenges. The success of the Saudi Noor Volunteer Program in Aden is a testament to the Kingdom's dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by eye diseases and vision impairments, offering hope and restored sight to many.

The conclusion of this initiative marks a significant achievement in KSRelief’s mission to provide essential healthcare services, particularly in regions affected by conflict, and further underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to global humanitarian efforts, improving lives through medical intervention and support.
