Zhuhai, China, November 16, 2024 – Saudi Arabia made a significant debut at the China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China 2024), one of the world’s largest aviation and aerospace events held from November 12 to 17 in Zhuhai. The Saudi pavilion, organized by the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), has drawn international attention for its showcase of advanced military products and technologies.
The pavilion was officially launched by Eng. Ahmad Abdulaziz Al-Ohali, Governor of GAMI, in the presence of Chief of General Staff Lieutenant-General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, Saudi Ambassador to China Abdulrahman bin Ahmed Al-Harbi, and a distinguished group of officials, international investors, and decision-makers from the aviation and defense industries.
Eng. Al-Ohali highlighted the strategic significance of Saudi Arabia’s inaugural participation in Airshow China, emphasizing the Kingdom's commitment to enhancing its global presence in the military industries sector. He stated that this initiative reflects Saudi Arabia’s position as one of the fastest-growing economies among G20 nations and serves to establish international partnerships that foster innovation and investment in the defense sector. The initiative also aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 by promoting the localization of military manufacturing and services, targeting over 50% of government spending on defense procurement by 2030.
The Saudi pavilion showcases cutting-edge technologies and innovations in military aviation, with contributions from several government entities and private companies. Participating organizations include the Ministry of Investment, the General Authority for Defense Development, the National Company for Mechanical Systems, WAKEB Company for Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems, Milestone Aviation Services, and Homat Al-Watan Company.
GAMI, working in collaboration with beneficiary and supporting government agencies, aims to create an investment-friendly environment for both national and international firms operating in the military industries sector. This includes localizing advanced technologies, integrating capabilities in defense and aviation, and leveraging investment opportunities to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s defense and economic independence.
