Saudi Defense Showcase Shines in Athens
Saudi Arabia made a powerful statement at DEFEA 2025 in Athens, where its national pavilion—organized by GAMI—displayed the Kingdom’s rapidly evolving defense capabilities and its drive to achieve strategic autonomy in military industries under Vision 2030.
Led by GAMI Governor Eng. Ahmad Al-Ohali, the Saudi delegation held strategic meetings with Greek and international leaders, including Major General Ioannis Bouras, to explore bilateral cooperation, technology exchange, and investment partnerships in land, air, and naval defense systems.
Also featured at the pavilion were the General Authority for Defense Development (GADD) and Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI). SAMI demonstrated advanced technologies such as the AI-powered Hema Surveillance System, the F-15SA fuselage, and a model of the SAMI Land Industrial Complex (SLIC). GADD promoted its JADD innovation platform and highlighted its support for defense tech startups and localization efforts.
This participation marks another milestone in the Kingdom’s journey to localize 50% of defense spending, while creating a dynamic investment ecosystem that attracts international partners, empowers local talent, and strengthens strategic independence.
Through localization, innovation, and regulation, Saudi Arabia is building a self-reliant defense ecosystem, contributing directly to its economic diversification goals.
The military sector’s growth reflects the Kingdom’s peace-through-strength philosophy, maintaining sovereignty while offering a secure, investor-friendly environment.
By participating in global exhibitions, Saudi Arabia bridges cultures and fosters international security partnerships, reinforcing its image as a stabilizing power.
Historically reliant on defense imports, Saudi Arabia is now an emerging global defense innovator, with policy and infrastructure supporting local manufacturing.
Saudi Arabia’s defense localization efforts are comparable to strategies in South Korea, India, and the UAE, with a goal of building global defense partnerships.
Saudi Arabia warmly invites the world to discover its fast-growing defense sector—where national pride meets international partnership, and innovation supports global peace and stability.
