Jeddah, September 17, 2024, The Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Saleh bin Hamad Al-Suhaibani, received on Monday the newly appointed Special Envoy of the OIC Secretary-General on Islamophobia, Ambassador Dr. Mehmet Pacaci, in the Makkah Region.
Dr. Pacaci recently assumed his duties in accordance with the decision by the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers at their recent meeting in Cameroon.
The meeting addressed the envoy's responsibilities and future efforts to implement the decisions of the Islamic Summit and the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers regarding measures to combat Islamophobia, particularly in light of the current international context, where there is a growing hostility towards Islam that threatens the principles of tolerance and global coexistence.
This comes in addition to the widespread animosity and hatred towards minorities, especially Muslims, perpetuated by extremist groups that promote such hatred.
The meeting also reviewed Saudi Arabia's efforts to support the fight against Islamophobia through the OIC and relevant organizations.
