On September 17, 2024, Dr. Saleh bin Hamad Al-Suhaibani, the Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), met with the newly appointed Special Envoy of the OIC Secretary-General on Islamophobia, Ambassador Dr. Mehmet Pacaci, in the Makkah Region. Ambassador Pacaci recently began his role following a decision by the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers during their recent meeting in Cameroon. The discussion focused on the envoy's responsibilities and future initiatives to implement the OIC's decisions on combating Islamophobia, particularly given the rising global hostility towards Islam that threatens the values of tolerance and coexistence. The meeting also addressed the ongoing animosity and hatred against minorities, particularly Muslims, fueled by extremist groups. Additionally, the session reviewed Saudi Arabia’s efforts in supporting the fight against Islamophobia through the OIC and other relevant organizations.
