On November 28th and 29th, Saudi Readymix Concrete Company played a pivotal role as a partner sponsor in the Concrete Conference on Standards, Codes, and Best Practices organized by the American Concrete Institute – Middle East Chapter (ACI-MEC) 2023 in Riyadh. This event, held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Saad bin Othman Al-Qasabi, Governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization (SASO) and Chairman of the National Committee for the Saudi Building Code, focused on concrete manufacturing standards, design and repair challenges, sustainability, and innovation for best concrete practices.
The first day of the conference delved into topics related to concrete manufacturing standards in design and repair, discussing challenges and difficulties in production. Chris Leptokaridis, the Technical and Strategic Director of Saudi Readymix Concrete Company, actively participated in a panel discussion, emphasizing the significance of consulting concrete manufacturers in the early stages of a project to enhance the construction process.
The second day of the conference shifted its focus to sustainability and innovation for best concrete practices. Discussions highlighted Building Code requirements aimed at promoting the use of sustainable construction materials, including fiberglass. A case study showcased the application of crystalline waterproofing technology in bridge construction in Latin America, specifically in Brazil and Paraguay.
