Saudi Red Crescent Says Volunteers in Makkah Region Topped 17,000 in 2024

SRCA emphasized its commitment to volunteer development, offering specialized training and first aid courses to enhance the skills of volunteers, and continues to leverage the platform to advance Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian and developmental goals.
The Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) in Makkah engaged 17,147 volunteers in 2024, contributing 307,412 volunteer hours across various sectors including emergency services, social, health, and sports volunteering.

Jeddah, December 08, 2024 – On the occasion of International Volunteer Day, celebrated globally on December 5, the Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) in Makkah Region proudly announced that it has successfully engaged 17,147 volunteers throughout 2024. These volunteers, both male and female, have participated in a broad array of services that contributed significantly to the well-being of the community and to the successful implementation of the SRCA’s mission.


This remarkable volunteer participation resulted in a total of 307,412 volunteer hours, underscoring the deep commitment of the Makkah Region’s residents to humanitarian efforts. The SRCA provided 3,502 volunteer opportunities throughout the year, with volunteers offering crucial emergency services to visitors of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, including those performing Umrah. Additionally, the SRCA provided services during national occasions, international observances, events, and exhibitions, further expanding the scope and impact of volunteerism in the region.


The SRCA’s volunteer efforts were diverse and inclusive, with opportunities spanning a wide range of sectors. Volunteers supported social, sports, and health services, and were also instrumental in raising awareness through campaigns in densely populated areas. In addition, volunteers played a vital role in maritime activities in the coastal governorates of Jeddah and Al Qunfudhah, as well as in tourist hotspots such as Taif. The SRCA also provided specialized first aid courses, where seasoned volunteers shared their expertise with new recruits, empowering them with life-saving skills for future volunteer work.


The authority stressed its continued commitment to harnessing the full potential of Saudi Arabia’s human resources, inviting individuals to engage in volunteer activities that will advance the nation’s development goals and contribute to the vision set by the Kingdom’s leadership. SRCA’s volunteer platform continues to serve as a crucial tool in organizing and channeling these contributions toward impactful and sustainable efforts.
