Riyadh, October 3, 2023, At the World Road Congress in the Czech Republic, the Saudi Roads General Authority unveiled its comprehensive sectoral strategy, which focuses on key pillars such as safety, quality, traffic management, and sustainability within the road sector. This forward-looking strategy harnesses national expertise to elevate road network quality, enhance the user experience, and foster innovation.
A primary objective of this road sector strategy is to elevate the global road quality index ranking to the sixth position, while simultaneously reducing road fatalities to less than eight cases per 100,000 people. It emphasizes the implementation of safety measures in line with the IRAP classification, all while upholding high service standards for road network capacity.
Furthermore, the strategy aims to increase private sector involvement in operational activities, fostering partnerships that will contribute to the sector's growth and development.
By 2030, this ambitious road sector strategy is projected to make a significant economic impact, adding SR74 billion to the local gross domestic product (GDP) and generating approximately 293,000 direct and indirect jobs. These milestones underscore Saudi Arabia's commitment to advancing its road infrastructure and achieving excellence on the global stage.
