Saudi students excel at EGMO 2024 in Georgia, earning accolades

Riyadh, April 17, 2024, Adding to Saudi Arabia's notable achievements in international competitions, two Saudi students, Fatima Buali from Al-Ahsa City and Retaj Al-Saleh from the Eastern Region, have secured impressive accolades at the 2024 European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO), held in Georgia from April 11 to 17. Fatima Buali claimed the bronze medal, while Retaj Al-Saleh received an honorable mention.

The selection of these talented students to represent Saudi Arabia at EGMO followed a rigorous selection process involving stringent tests and training sessions overseen by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. Mawhiba, operating in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education, conducts advanced training courses to prepare Saudi teams to excel and represent the Kingdom effectively in international Olympiads.

This year's EGMO witnessed the participation of 212 students representing 54 countries, showcasing the event's global scale and significance in promoting mathematical excellence among young talents.

The 2024 EGMO marks Saudi Arabia's 12th participation in the competition. Over the years, Saudi students have demonstrated exceptional prowess, securing two gold medals, six silver medals, 13 bronze medals, and seven honorable mentions, highlighting the Kingdom's commitment to nurturing and showcasing talent in the field of mathematics on the international stage.
