Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, recently announced the recipient of the "Great Arab Minds" award in the field of medicine—Dr. Hani Najm from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This accolade recognizes Dr. Najm's exceptional contributions to pediatric and adult cardiac surgery, specifically his groundbreaking innovations in treating congenital heart diseases.

Specializing in congenital heart surgery, Dr. Najm played a key role in the development of a flexible, growth-compatible heart valve implanted within a child's body. This innovative solution adapts to a child's growth over the years, eliminating the need for multiple surgical procedures and mitigating risks for thousands of infants and children. Dr. Najm has actively participated in over 10,000 surgical operations, handling complex cases across all age groups.

Currently leading the Department of Pediatric and Adult Cardiac Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, United States, Dr. Najm's expertise and achievements have earned him this prestigious award. The "Great Arab Minds" award, recognizing brilliance across six categories, including Medicine, celebrates individuals whose impactful contributions have made a positive difference in the Arab world.
