Saudi Team Secures Medals at the Gulf Scientific Olympiad


Riyadh, October 19, 2024 — The Saudi Arabian national team has achieved remarkable success at the Gulf Scientific Olympiad, a prestigious event organized by the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. Showcasing exceptional talent and dedication, Saudi students returned home with an impressive total of 14 medals, including an outstanding nine golds.


This impressive performance can be attributed to the rigorous training and preparation that the participants underwent in the lead-up to the competition. They benefited from specialized instruction provided by a distinguished group of both Saudi and international experts, ensuring that they were well-equipped to excel in their respective fields.


In the Physics Olympiad, Saudi Arabia made a significant mark, securing four medals overall. Notably, Mazen Al-Shakhs and Fares Al-Ghamdi each earned gold medals for their exemplary performances, while Hussein Al-Saleh and Anas Al-Saigh were awarded silver medals, highlighting the depth of talent within the Saudi team.


The mathematics team also demonstrated outstanding prowess, winning a total of six medals. Among them, four golds were awarded to Youssef Ayman Bakhit, Ahmed Farid Al-Khalawi, Muath Saeed Al-Qahtani, and Mohammed Ahmed Al-Ghamdi, all of whom showcased exceptional mathematical skills. Additionally, Ahmed Saad Al-Shehri and Fatima Hassan Bouali earned silver medals, further solidifying the team's reputation for excellence.


In the chemistry segment, the Saudi team claimed four medals, including three golds. Haidar Al-Dubaisi, Ammar Al-Turkistani, and Rind Awda emerged as gold medalists, while Ali Bawazeer secured a silver medal, showcasing a strong performance across the board.


The Gulf Scientific Olympiad saw participation from 84 students representing various member states, along with 44 team leaders and supervisors. This event not only aimed to foster healthy competition among aspiring young scientists but also encouraged students to remain at the forefront of scientific advancements in the region.


The accomplishments of the Saudi national team at the Gulf Scientific Olympiad underscore the country's commitment to nurturing scientific talent and promoting educational excellence.
