Doha, Qatar – November 15, 2024: The Saudi Arabian national team has achieved remarkable success at the fourth edition of the Arab Mathematics Olympiad, hosted in Qatar. Demonstrating the strength of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to nurturing talent in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), the team clinched two gold and two silver medals, placing them at the forefront of this year's competition.
This year’s gold medal winners were Youssef Bakheet from Yanbu and Muath Al-Qahtani from the Eastern Region. Both students displayed exceptional proficiency in mathematical problem-solving, securing top scores that reflect both their individual dedication and the rigorous preparation they received. Meanwhile, the silver medals were earned by Ahmed Al-Shehri from the Riyadh Region and Ahmed Khalawi from Jeddah, further highlighting the geographic diversity and depth of Saudi Arabia’s talent pool.
The team’s preparation for this prestigious event was organized by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), in close partnership with the Saudi Ministry of Education. Through Mawhiba’s targeted training programs and initiatives, the students were provided with advanced mathematical coaching, strategic problem-solving techniques, and intensive preparation exercises. This focused approach not only prepared the team for the Olympiad’s challenging questions but also instilled confidence and resilience in each competitor.
The Kingdom’s success in the 2024 Olympiad adds significantly to its historical achievements at the event, bringing Saudi Arabia’s total medal count to an impressive 11 over just three participations.
