Saudi teams participate in 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China

Hangzhou, September 25, 2023, Saudi national football and tennis teams are actively participating in the 19th Asian Games, ongoing until October 8th in Hangzhou, China.


In football, the Saudi U-23 team secured a place in the second round by finishing as Group II runners-up with seven points. They achieved this through a 3-1 victory over Vietnam at the Linpeng Sports Center Stadium in Huzhou, China. Goals were scored by Mohammed Al-Yami in the 43rd minute, Mohammed Maran in the 87th minute, and Zakaria Hawsawi in the 90th minute. Next, Saudi Arabia will face the Indian national team in the qualifying round.


On the tennis front, Saudi player Ammar Al-Haqbani advanced to the men's singles 32nd round by defeating Qatari opponent Rashid Nayef with a score of two sets to love in the round of 64. In the next round, Ammar will compete against China's Zhizhen Zhang, Asia's top-ranked tennis player and currently ranked 60th globally, on Monday morning at 11 o'clock.
