Saudi TGA Attends the Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board

The Transport General Authority (TGA) of Saudi Arabia participated in the 104th annual meeting of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) in Washington, D.C., presenting a paper on the economic and technical evaluation model for future railway projects in Saudi Arabia.

Washington, D.C., January 10, 2025 – The Transport General Authority (TGA) of Saudi Arabia concluded its participation in the 104th annual meeting of the Transportation Research Board (TRB), which took place at the Walter Washington Conference Center in Washington, D.C. This prestigious event brought together experts, researchers, and industry leaders from across the globe to discuss the latest advancements and challenges in transportation, with a particular focus on sustainable and innovative solutions.


As part of its contribution to the meeting, the TGA presented a scientific paper titled "Applying the Financial and Economic Evaluation Model of Railways Between the Kingdom’s Cities." This paper highlighted the flexible and innovative evaluation model developed by the TGA to assess the technical and economic feasibility of future railway transport projects in Saudi Arabia. The model aims to provide a comprehensive framework for determining the viability of these projects, ensuring they align with the Kingdom’s broader sustainable development goals. The paper also served as a valuable contribution to the global discourse on rail transport, showcasing Saudi Arabia's commitment to advancing its infrastructure and developing innovative solutions that contribute to the nation's long-term development strategy.


In addition to the presentation, the TGA's delegation, led by Dr. Omaimah Bamasag, Deputy of Transport Enablement, held a series of high-level meetings with key authorities and companies specializing in modern transportation. These discussions focused on exchanging knowledge and best practices, as well as learning from the experiences of other countries in the transportation sector. These meetings underscored the TGA's dedication to fostering international cooperation and collaboration to enhance the development of Saudi Arabia’s transport infrastructure.
