Riyadh, March 23, 2025 – Saudi Arabia will celebrate its second annual Saudi Green Initiative (SGI) Day on March 27, 2025, marking the vision launched by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in 2021. Youth are central to building a sustainable future, playing a key role in climate action and environmental responsibility. While SGI Day brings together all sectors of society—citizens, public institutions, and businesses—young people are the driving force behind the initiative. The celebration serves as an opportunity to recognize the climate actions of Saudi youth, as they make significant strides toward a sustainable future.
Acknowledging this crucial role, the Saudi Green Initiative continues to empower young changemakers, ensuring they are well-equipped to contribute to the Kingdom's ambitious sustainability goals. SGI Day was launched last year to amplify collective action, raise awareness of climate and sustainability challenges, and provide a platform to showcase and accelerate progress.
This year's theme, "Promoting a Culture of Environmental Stewardship," is brought to life through youth-driven campaigns such as #GreenRamadan, where participants create a visual mosaic of sustainability efforts, demonstrating how small individual actions can lead to meaningful collective impact. A prime example of youth-led action is Namour, SGI's mascot, who is leading the "30 Deeds in 30 Days" challenge, transforming Instagram Stories into a collaborative space for young people to share daily environmental actions during Ramadan, fostering greater environmental engagement.
The innovative efforts and climate leadership of Saudi youth show how the next generation is taking shared responsibility for sustainable change, ensuring a greener future for tomorrow while promoting responsible environmental stewardship today.
SGI Day celebrates this inclusive approach, where everyone, especially youth, plays a vital role in creating a greener future for all.
