Gunfire damaged a SAUDIA aircraft this morning as it was getting ready for its scheduled departure flight, SV458 to Riyadh, following the security incidents in the Republic of Sudan. The aircraft was carrying passengers and crew. It has been reported that all members of the flight's cabin crew have safely arrived at the Saudi Embassy in Sudan. As a result, all additional flights to and from Sudan have been halted in order to protect the safety of the passengers and crew. In the meantime, aircraft that were flying above Sudan have returned.
In order to learn more about the situation, SAUDIA's Emergency Coordination Center is collaborating with the airline's cabin crew, airport personnel, and Saudi Arabia's embassy in the Republic of Sudan.
In order to communicate with guests and crew, SAUDIA established hotline lines. Visitors calling from Saudi Arabia should dial 8004343333, while those calling from outside the country should dial +966126864333.
If new details come to light, they will be disclosed in a subsequent supplementary statement.
