Jeddah, October 30, 2023, In a recent press release, Saudia Airlines announced a significant milestone in its efforts to facilitate Umrah pilgrimages. During the period from the beginning of the month of Muharram to the end of Rabi' Al-Awwal, Saudia successfully transported a total of 814,000 Umrah performers to and from Saudi Arabia. This achievement represents a remarkable 50% increase compared to the previous year, underscoring Saudia's commitment to supporting the goals outlined in Saudi Vision 2030.
Saudia's strategic plan for the 1445 Hijri Umrah season included the operation of additional charter flights designed to accommodate the needs of over 100,000 Umrah performers. These specialized flights were extended to new destinations, complementing the scheduled services in cities such as Aswan and Luxor in Egypt, Ankara and Gaziantep in Türkiye, Algiers, Constantine, and Oran in Algeria, Zurich in Switzerland, Djerba in Tunisia, and several cities in Morocco, including Tangier, Fez, Agadir, Marrakesh, Rabat, and Oujda.
The press release further emphasizes that Saudia is dedicated to providing a seamless experience for pilgrims from the beginning of the Umrah season. This commitment is manifested through a range of services, including a highly efficient workforce, self-service kiosks, baggage services, digital platforms, and designated service centers, all of which contribute to enhancing operational efficiency.
