Riyadh, February 13, 2024, The Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the FIWARE Foundation. Under this agreement, FIWARE Foundation will localize its technology to align with the local language, culture, regulations, infrastructure, and skills in Saudi Arabia. The localization efforts will also include the adaptation of Arabic interfaces, compatible features, local cloud hosting, and the training of information technology (IT) specialists. The goal is to ensure seamless integration with existing systems.
The MoU signing took place during the Global Smart City Forum organized by SDAIA, held on February 12 and 13 at the Riyadh Arena under the theme "A Better Life." The forum featured the participation of over 100 speakers from more than 40 countries.
In addition to the localization efforts, the MoU encompasses collaboration with 39 FIWARE Innovation Hubs (IHubs). These IHubs form a global network of innovation centers that assist local and regional entities in developing smart solutions. They provide access to open-source technologies, offer business support, contribute to community development, and provide professional training, resources, and expertise to facilitate excellence in digital transformation. The cooperation with FIWARE IHubs aims to foster innovation and empower companies, institutions, partners, and customers in Saudi Arabia to excel in the realm of smart solutions.
