On September 12, 2024, in Riyadh, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ST Engineering, a prominent technology and engineering firm. This agreement is set to facilitate collaboration and the exchange of expertise in smart traffic management within Saudi cities. The objective is to develop artificial intelligence (AI) solutions that will improve road safety and enhance overall quality of life.
SDAIA plays a key role in advancing the digital transformation of smart cities across Saudi Arabia and works with various government agencies to implement AI-related projects and initiatives. These collaborative efforts have significantly contributed to the advancement of smart city concepts, as evidenced by the improved rankings of five Saudi cities in the 2024 Smart City Index, published by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), compared to the previous year.
