Riyadh, September 13, 2024 — In a significant development at the third Global AI Summit (GAIN Summit), a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by key educational and technological institutions in Saudi Arabia. The Ministry of Education, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the Education and Training Evaluation Commission, and the National Curriculum Center have come together to establish the Excellence Center for Artificial Intelligence in Education.
The MoU was formally signed by Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Curriculum Center; Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi, President of SDAIA; and Dr. Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Sabti, Chairman of the Education and Training Evaluation Commission.
The primary objective of the agreement is to create a robust framework for the development and governance of the new center. This initiative will leverage the Arabic Large Language Model (ALLaM), a national AI model, to support researchers, educators, and students in the educational sector.
