Riyadh, February 06, 2024, Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi, President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), engaged in a bilateral meeting today with Slovenian Minister of Digital Transformation Emilija Stojmenova Duh on the sidelines of the Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Themed "Changing the Landscape of AI Governance," the forum was organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in collaboration with Slovenia’s Ministry of Digital Transformation.
During their meeting, the two parties delved into discussions regarding the Kingdom's ongoing efforts, spearheaded by SDAIA, to amplify the role of data and AI, foster awareness surrounding this burgeoning field of development, and deliberate upon the principles of AI ethics.
Moreover, they exchanged insights on the recent decision by the cabinet to establish the International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics (ICAIRE), an initiative classified under UNESCO's second category. Additionally, they scrutinized the Kingdom's broader international endeavors in the realm of AI.
The meeting underscored the mutual commitment of both Saudi Arabia and Slovenia to advancing the ethical governance of AI and harnessing its potential for societal benefit. It served as a platform for collaborative exchange and reaffirmed the significance of international cooperation in shaping the ethical framework surrounding AI innovation.
