SDAIA President tours AI-enhanced centers for Grand Mosque and highway safety.

Makkah, March 26, 2025 – Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) President Dr. Abdullah Al-Ghamdi visited the Grand Mosque Operations Center on Tuesday.
During his visit, he met with Director of Public Security and Chairman of the Hajj Security Committee, Lieutenant-General Mohammed Al-Bassami, along with security officials and Saudi programmers from SDAIA working at the center.
Dr. Al-Ghamdi reviewed the "Baseer" platform, developed by SDAIA in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior’s Public Security division. This AI-powered system utilizes computer vision to monitor and analyze visitor movement in the Grand Mosque, ensuring efficient crowd management and assisting in locating missing individuals.
Additionally, he examined the "Sawaher" platform, designed to enhance security in the Grand Mosque, contributing to a safe and technologically advanced environment that facilitates worshippers and Umrah performers.
As part of his tour, the SDAIA president visited the highway security center in Al-Shumaisi, where he was briefed on the "Banan" device, an advanced biometric identification system that enhances identity verification.
He also observed the center's command operations and explored the Saudi Lucid vehicle, which is integrated with AI-driven tools for security and surveillance.
