Riyadh, September 11, 2024 — Abdullah bin Sulaiman Al-Khudairi, Chief Executive of the Strategy Management Office at the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), has expressed Saudi Arabia's pride in its collaboration with the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on artificial intelligence (AI) policies. He praised the OECD for its leadership in crafting robust AI policies and emphasized that Saudi Arabia's role as a regional partner reinforces its position as a leader in AI governance both regionally and globally.
At the third annual Global AI Summit (GAIN Summit), Al-Khudairi spoke about and participated in a dialogue session titled "Regulating the Artificial Intelligence Sector: Risks, Legislation, and Future Trends," featuring discussions with leading AI researchers. He highlighted Saudi Arabia's notable position in the OECD Observatory on Artificial Intelligence, attributed to the Kingdom's development and publication of over 20 groundbreaking policies in the AI domain.
Saudi Arabia's collaboration with the OECD is aimed at enhancing regional cooperation, advancing the development of reliable AI policies, and addressing real-world incidents and risks related to AI. This partnership seeks to empower policymakers and regulators in the region with the knowledge and tools necessary to effectively manage AI.
