SEC Sets Peak Load Records and Announces Successful Hajj 1445 AH Operational Plan

Under the direction and supervision of Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Minister of Energy, the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) was able to accomplish a great deal in terms of its operational strategy for the Hajj season that occurred in 1445, the Islamic calendar year. Makkah and the holy sites had peak power loads that were unprecedented. While maintaining consistent and uninterrupted electrical services throughout the region, these loads reached 5,361 megawatts in Makkah, 454 megawatts in Arafat, and 343 megawatts in Mina. Eng. Khalid Al-Gnoon, the Chief Executive Officer of SEC, expressed his satisfaction with the firm's contribution to the success of the Hajj season by providing reliable and high-quality electrical services. He mentioned that Allah's favor, the Minister of Energy's consistent direction and follow-up, the firm's board of directors, and the hard work of over 2,000 SEC personnel throughout the Hajj season made this achievement possible.


Al-Gnoon emphasized that the plan achieved success through the implementation of essential projects and investments totaling more than SAR700 million. Al-Gnoon made these investments to build and strengthen the electrical grid's infrastructure, ensuring its stability and continuity around the clock. As a result, pilgrims were able to perform their rituals in a calm and comfortable environment. In addition to highlighting the company's early preparations for the 2018 Hajj season, Al-Gnoon emphasized the company's dedication to making use of all of its resources and skills in order to provide satisfactory service to the pilgrims.
