Riyadh, August 18, 2023, The second seasonal dates exhibition in Riyadh showcases various products of dates, provides sales outlets for more than 50 farmers and exhibitors, and allows comparison and selection for the consumer and investor amid abundance in the quantities and types of crops coming from various regions across the Kingdom.
The organizational efforts of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, in partnership with the Riyadh Region Governorate, the National Center for Palms and Dates, and several agricultural associations, are integrated with the objectives of the exhibition to be a seasonal economic and agricultural gathering that contributes to enhancing the marketing climate for the region’s dates, which constitute 24% of the Kingdom's 400,000 tons. The exhibition will be held for two months at Rawabi Market for vegetables and fruits.
Emanating from the organizers’ concern to ensure the quality and safety of the exhibit, the criteria for participation in the exhibition, which kicked off on August 11, the competent and organizing authorities are keen to make this gathering, along with other similar events in other regions, as marketing outlets domestically, regionally, and internationally to promote and market the products of 123,000 agricultural holdings of palm trees in the Kingdom, as well as offering the crop to the investor sector in the date-based manufacturing industries. The event comes within the framework of the integrated development of the Kingdom’s date production and is characterized by high quality, abundance, and diversity, taking into account that the total number of palm trees in the Kingdom amounts to 34,554,602, representing 27% of the total number of palm trees in the world, with local production of around 1,541,769 tons. The seasonal agricultural economic exhibition contributes to supporting the marketing of agricultural products, local agricultural marketing, and farmers in the palm and dates sectors, whose contribution amounts to SR7.5 billion, equivalent to 12% of the total agricultural product in the Kingdom.
