The attack occurred near the Saudi Arabian border, resulting in three fatalities and numerous injuries, posing a grave threat to regional stability and the peace process in Yemen. The council called on the Houthis to cease all terrorist activities and expressed concern over their targeting of civilian infrastructure along the southern Saudi border.
Emphasizing that any escalation would exacerbate the suffering of Yemen's population, the council stressed the imperative need for a lasting ceasefire. They reiterated their unwavering support for a political resolution to end the Yemeni people's plight, endorsing UN Special Envoy Hans Grundberg's pursuit of an inclusive, Yemeni-led political settlement in accordance with relevant Security Council resolutions and agreed-upon references.
