SFD CEO Meets Benin Health and Education Ministers in Delegation

Porto-Novo, February 08, 2024, Today, Sultan Al-Marshad, the Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), along with his accompanying delegation, held separate meetings with Benjamin Hounkpatin, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Benin, and Eléonore Yayi Ladekan, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Discussions during these meetings revolved around avenues for development cooperation and the status of SFD's ongoing health and education initiatives within the Republic of Benin.

Since 2008, the SFD has extended soft development loans to finance six projects and programs valued at over $145 million across various sectors such as health, education, transportation, and energy in the Republic of Benin. Additionally, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the SFD, has allocated two grants totaling $8 million to Benin. These grants are aimed at bolstering water security, enhancing water resources, and mitigating the impacts of drought through the Saudi Program for Digging Wells and Rural Development in Africa.
