Riyadh, February 13, 2024, Dr. Hisham bin Saad Al-Jadhey, CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), inaugurated the first session of the International Scientific Advisory Board (ISAB) for Food Safety at SFDA's headquarters in Riyadh. The session, which runs from February 13 to 15, brought together food safety experts from Britain, Australia, Italy, Ireland, and Korea.
During the meeting, CEO Al-Jadhey underscored the crucial role of the council in discussing and providing scientific support and consultation. The ISAB is tasked with offering necessary recommendations that address major issues related to both local and imported food safety.
The session also shed light on key achievements of the SFDA's third strategic plan, along with the objectives and projects outlined in its fourth strategic plan spanning from 2023 to 2027. The SFDA envisions becoming one of the leading international entities in all its specialties, emphasizing its commitment to advancing food safety standards and practices. The ISAB serves as a valuable platform for international collaboration and expertise, contributing to the continuous enhancement of food safety measures in the Kingdom.
