SFDA Chief Attends Arab Health Organizations Conference, Forum

Riyadh, September 13, 2024 – Dr. Hisham Aljadhey, Chief Executive of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), took part in the opening session of the Arab Health Organizations Conference and Forum, alongside an exhibition held in Manama, Bahrain. The event brought together officials and health leaders from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and other Arab nations.

During the conference, the SFDA signed a cooperative program tied to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) established with Bahrain’s National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) in 2019. This new program focuses on the mutual approval of pharmaceutical products, medical devices, and supplies. The signing was overseen by Lieutenant General Dr. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of Bahrain’s Supreme Council of Health.

Dr. Hisham Aljadhey signed the agreement on behalf of the SFDA, while Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Ansari represented Bahrain’s NHRA. As part of the program, products already approved by the SFDA will also receive approval from Bahrain’s NHRA.

The 2019 MoU aims to enhance the exchange of information on laboratory test results, clinical research, and the safety of medicines, medical devices, and health products. The agreement also encourages collaboration in factory inspections, training initiatives, and the exchange of reports on drug warnings and incidents related to medical products.
