SFDA joins global peers at Tokyo’s Medical Device Regulators Forum.

Tokyo, March 23, 2025 – Dr. Hisham S. Aljadhey, Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), led the SFDA delegation at the 27th Management Committee Meeting of the International Medical Device Regulators Forum (IMDRF) in Tokyo, Japan, from March 10-14.
According to an SFDA press release, the IMDRF meeting brought together regulatory bodies from member states to discuss recent developments in medical device monitoring and regulation.
During the meeting, the SFDA showcased Saudi Arabia's advanced regulatory capabilities and its dedication to international best practices in medical device regulation. The delegation also highlighted its support for local industry and innovation in the sector.
Forum sessions covered strategic initiatives, including the IMDRF's 2026-2030 strategy, capacity development programs for member states, and challenges and solutions related to medical device regulation. Participants also reviewed the latest IMDRF guidelines.
The SFDA's participation emphasizes its commitment to enhancing its leadership in medical device regulation and utilizing global expertise to strengthen regulatory frameworks, while building strategic partnerships with international regulatory bodies and organizations.
